in awe

We've reached new heights of hipsterdom.

I don't even know what's happening. This is amazing.

Check out www.ilovefakemagazine.com and their blog for the latest issue on all things true and dear to a hipster's heart.

are you up or coming?

Here are my new favorite hipster bands. I like them because you've never heard of them. In fact, even I have forgotten what they're called. Click to watch Eleanor the tour whore (aka Rich Fulcher, who looks surprisingly feminine in the photo above) trying to hook up with a bunch of Brits.

time for some hipster shit!

This place only lives up to its name once in a blue moon, but I'd like to think that when it does, it's not half bad. Anyway, I've known about the film version of Where The Wild Things Are for a little while, but I've only just seen the trailer. It's brought to you by resident-hipster Spike Jonze, who I know for directing Being John Malkovich and that itself should be a tip-off about how this was made. It looks like a cross between the Neverending Story for its extensive use of CGI muppets and an MGMT music video.

It's a smug piece of work and I know its just smirking at me and basking in its indie glory with its obscure Arcade Fire songs. That being said, there's an overwhelming chance I'll be seeing this shit.

santOgold 4eva

Santogold changed her name which is a bit "ehhh" and not at all newsworthy but I was stalkin her Wikipedia and scoffing that they were screwing around with the page and misspelled her name but then I noticed that everyone (aka Youtube) was misspelling her name, so something was up. With my expert detective skills I have found this out for you. You can thank me later. Whateva.

accents save the day

I had a snazzy day at the Sackler today, where I'd never bothered to go before, although it is a mere ten minute walk from chez moi. It's all kind of sporadically thrown together and I'll be honest I'm still trying to work out what the random Assyrian and unbelievably XXXXX^10000-rated Greek vase have in common. However, I suspect that the Pan Painter learned to paint from the Sackler porno (clean side of Pan Painter pictured above).
Anyway, the internets have been depressing since Proper Messy finally ended (I'm sure you all care... but bear with me) and it was a pretty big disappointment but whateva. On the bright(ish) side, I managed to discover the rest of the Slink site. Anyway, Grimmy's got a great accent. That is all.
For the dim amongst you, hit the keys on your keyboard and you may find some (maybe) insightful and hilarious things. My personal favorite is "dodecahedron." I'm not sure why, but it's a great word.
On a slightly related note, I've been complying a list of my favorite words. Well not necessarily favorite but more rather words that are really fun to say. Also, I should note that this list is in fact a post-it with one word on it... so far I've got SMOCK. It's gettin there.

(Actually, let's not joke about little children and babies because a couple days ago I read a really disturbing story about some 13-year-old who knocked up his 15-year-old girlfriend. WHAT THE FUCK IS RIGHT.)

ugh hipsters

Lots of hipsters in the news today. Our first story is about the three-second marriage between 19-year-old Peaches Geldorf and her musician husband, Max Drummey, who have called it quits after six months, which is far longer than I expected those two disgusting hipsters to last. Well done! Now Peaches can go back to do whatever it is that she does... which I believe is living off her father's money and doing nothing. This is all sorts of bad for Drummey then because even if he signed a pre-up quicksmart like any self-respecting gold digger, Peaches doesn't actually do anything with her life. What a pity. Anyway, those two fools released a statement to the BBC, in which they said,
"After much soul-searching we have made the mutual decision to end our marriage and have agreed to go our separate ways."
If by soul-searching they meant searching for coke and being dirty American Apparel hipsters, then it was probably relevent for the two seconds they were married.

Anyway, moving on to our sad story of the day. A hipster has died and gone to hipster heaven (where I suspect there are plaid shirts and tight jeans galore) and his family are unsure what to do with all his ironic hipster things. They have contacted an antique dealer to help them sort through the rubbish because they aren't sure which items have any value to them. Apparently the passed-on hipster was an avid collector of eccentric, cheap, and old things, including mismatched sets of cups and plates. His mother told the Onion that in his apartment she found an assortment of useless coffee mugs,
"This one says 'Hands Off Howard's Coffee.' I find it strange that he owned that, considering that he lived alone and never mentioned a friend named Howard."
The Onion knows what's up. Sadly, I think the mug is really funny and I probably would have bought it, too.

métallique

Wow, sorry about all the French stuff today, I don't know what's sparked this. Anyway, I was busy listening to Yelle, who is fucking fabulous and looking through Lookbook, though I hate it with a burning passion, those self-rightous hipsters.

Side note: this guy is probably the most hipsterish hipster I have come across so far. It's a little disconcerting when the little male hipsters are about ten times thinner than you. Don't worry, though, I know that it's not cute to rock the anorexic troll who feasts on blood look either. (I'm talking to you Trollsen twins.) Besides, my sister gives me the most grief and body-image issues anyway. Thanks for that.

Moving on, here's a Yelle-esque singer called Ladyhawke who has a song called Paris s'enflamme (Paris is burning) and I'm really pleased that I understand the lyrics! Maybe I have learned something about the language after all these years.

Inspiration til din påklædning, direkte fra Danmarks gader

So because I have nothing better to do, I somehow stumbled across this Danish street style website called GadeMode and it's totally bitchin'. I don't speak Danish so I have no idea what the hell the any of that means but that's not the point. Onto the photos.

Oh, young hipster love.

What can I say. Actually, I have nothing else to say. I leave you with these goodies.

on the topic of attractive hipsters

While I'm on the topic of people I shouldn't find attractive but do, let's talk about Johnny Borrell. This also ties into the hipster thing that this blog supposedly talks about, but in reality has nothing to do with, so hurrah!

In case you are lucky enough to have never heard of Johnny Borrell of Razorlight (the Stroke Juniors, in my mind), I hope his head explodes with this revelation, the arrogant bastard. In essence, he's the Kanye of the indie world (well, Kanye is also the Kanye of the indie world but disregard that for now) because he's always making comments to the NME about his greatness and attractiveness and so on. Here's a real gem: "I'm the best songwriter of my generation. I've got more songs and spirit than anyone else." And etc. etc. Thank you, please leave now.

Anyway, it's annoying that he's annoying but also an attractive hipster. Also if you bother to Google him, you will quickly realize that he doesn't seem to know that wonderful things called shirts exist in the world. But I suppose all hipsters of the male gender are like that. (I'm talking to you, Luke Pritchard.) It's very confusing.

christ on a cracker, here are some hipsters

Okay, so it has been brought to my attention by my sister that this blog actually has nothing to do with the beautiful, insolent, and scientifically proven nocturnal* creatures we call hipsters. So, to make up for it, let me direct your attention to something that looks like hipsters ate it and threw it up when they realized it's better to be a manorexic in a mess of skinny jeans, tees, and unwashed hair.

I ought to note, though, that Top Man is probably pretty well known in the UK and so it's too mainstream and uncool. I'm not picky though. A British hipster is a hipster (and British, in case that was unclear) and I'd take these Camden ponces any day and you know you would too. I highly recommend checking out their selection of knitted cardigans as well as their interactive hipster (under skinny jeans, typical).

Also, here's a sad story about two hipsters who refuse to accept they're hipsters. It brought a couple of tears to my eyes because there's too much hipster hate in this world. (The Onion)

poopy time

So I have an interview tomorrow and I was simply told, "Let's meet at Au Bon Pain." That's no good because I'm pretty sure there are about a hundred of them within the greater Boston area. I can probably see three from my house with my eyes closed. Actually, I tell a lie because hipster haunt aka Inman Square would never allow it. Mr Coyne told me that he thinks the hipsters at the 1369 Coffee House are too dirty. His exact words were "Don't touch my muffin you dirty hipster!" Too many sexual puns to count.

But this post isn't actually about Au Bon Pain. It's about themed toilets in China. Where's the connection, you may ask? I will leave you to determine that for yourself because it's a magical journey to the conclusion. Trust. Anyway, here are some photos of crocodile and Virgin Mary urinals. I'm not sure whether I think these are funny or appalling. There's something wrong with sticking yo' yoo-hoo into the Virgin. It makes me feel bad for Joseph.

Also, some really classy laydeez.
